In-cell courses

Over the years CPR have designed over 40 courses to help prisoners grow in their faith. They range from basic beginner courses to diploma level.

Foundation courses

All students are expected to complete the foundation courses first. These courses cover core Christian beliefs and include the following:

  • What is Truth?

    21 studies
    This initial study takes you through the Gospel of John and explores some of the incredible themes of this book of the Bible. 

  • God’s Righteousness

    1 study
    Many people are confused about God’s righteousness. Most people believe it is their own righteousness that earns them salvation. This study helps a person understand that no matter how far we have fallen into sin, God has a way of escape for us and it is something that can never be bought or earned!

  • Mark Time

    52 studies
    Each study is a mixture of multiple choice questions, one sentence and one paragraph answers. The 52 studies take you through the whole of the Gospel according to Mark stage by stage.

  • Is It True?

    4 books
    Is a four book series, which examines the evidence for creation, who Jesus is, the Resurrection, and the Bible

Intermediate courses

You can select any study course you desire in the intermediate section.
On the successful completion of each study, you may choose further studies: 

  • Major Points from the Minor Prophets

    13 studies
    The first of the thirteen studies introduces you to the minor prophets of the Old Testament and then each study focusses on one of the prophets. Upon completion of the 13 studies, you will be familiar with the prophets that many Christians fail to study!

  • The Holy War

    18 studies
    This course aims to deal with real and present issues faced in the Christian life through the power of picture language. Thelma Jenkins’ modernisation of John Bunyan’s classic makes this iconic piece of literature easily accessible. It is a relevant study for anyone questioning what it means to be a Christian. It is also an excellent resource for those who are fighting the good fight of faith and need an encouraging reminder of Christ’s victory!

  • Abraham's People

    5 studies
    This study accompanies Malcolm Jones’  insightful book ‘Abraham’s People’ which explores what the Bible teaches about God's people and how He relates to them today. It is a beautiful testimony to the consistency between the Old and the New Testament.

  • Be successful; be spiritual!

    1 Study
    This study considers how we can be honouring to God with our money, and in the workplace. Practical questions and personal applications allow for growth in business knowledge whilst also assessing attitudes, motivations and desires in relation to God and money.

  • What is Truth?

    1 Study
    This study in John’s gospel is a verse by verse exploration of chapters 1–4 of John’s gospel, ideal for both personal study and group study.

Advanced courses

The advanced studies are for those who want to wrestle with the Bible and become men of God. These studies are not easy. They are not for those who give up easily.

  • Foundations of the Christian Faith

    21 studies
    A series of studies based on a systematic theology book written by Roger Weil. This takes you through all the major doctrines of the Christian faith in a clear format. This study also includes mind maps that break down information making it easier to follow.

  • Systematic Theology  

    57 studies 
    This is a series of studies taken directly from a book called Systematic Theology by Wayne Grudem. This material is at a high academic level but many of our students who have studied at Foundation and Intermediate levels go on to achieve very high grades in this challenging course.

Bible College Level

CPR works in partnership with the London Seminary to offer a diploma equivalent course. While this course is not an officially accredited diploma by a recognised qualification framework, it has been accepted by HMPPS.

  • Systematic Theology  

    57 studies
    This is a series of studies taken directly from a book called Systematic Theology by Wayne Grudem. This material is at a high academic level but many of our students who have studied at Foundation and Intermediate levels go on to achieve very high grades in this challenging course.

  • 1 Samuel

    An in-depth study of 1 Samuel, exploring themes such as the establishment of Israel's monarchy; the contrast between human failure and divine faithfulness; the contrasting leadership of Saul and David; and the significance of obedience and faith in God's sovereign plan
