Board

For policy and pastoral oversight of CPR the Governing Board consists of:

Sean Willis (Chairman of the Trustees)
Sean Willis is Managing Director for an international conference company. He was saved in October 2001 and has been working in gospel-based prison ministry in South Africa and London since 2003. Like David, he delights in sharing Christ in prisons and immigration removal centres.

Brian Edwards
Brian Edwards was pastor of an evangelical church in south west London for thirty years before taking on a wider ministry supported by his home church. He is the author of twenty books including Christian theology and historical biography, and edits the popular Day One Travel Guide series. Brian was President of the FIEC for three years and now preaches and lectures in the UK and abroad and is Chairman of the Praise! hymnbook Editorial Board.

David Fortune (Director of Ministry)
David is Director of Ministry and a Board member, since he founded CPR in 2010. He previously pastored evangelical churches in Birmingham and London and it was during his London pastorate David began teaching and preaching in the prisons. He is a natural leader, gifted Bible teacher, and has a heart for the lost. He has a passion for people and the gospel and produces an endless flow of resources and initiatives for CPR. David sets up and runs Bible studies in the prisons and also recruits and trains teams of volunteers to help with the ministry. David says, ‘I just love going into prison for Christ!’

Cheryl Summers
Cheryl is a qualified actuary with over 20 years experience in the general insurance industry. She her church’s treasurer and also has an interest in Christian mission and aid work in Zimbabwe where she has been involved in various ministries including school building projects, widows’ programme and children’s Bible clubs.

Keith Berry
After an upbringing without the gospel Keith met a believer while still in school who was used through personal witness to point him to Christ. At the same time he felt a call to the Lord’s service which, after a time teaching English in secondary schools, led him into full-time Christian ministry. This has taken him to serve in different Baptist churches in Bedfordshire and London over the last 20 years. Keith is currently General Secretary of the Old Baptist Union and in that capacity especially he hopes to contribute to the unfolding ministry of CPR.

Malcolm Jones
While earning his living in accountancy, Malcolm developed an itinerant preaching and teaching ministry among Brethren Assemblies until he was 35 years of age.  Then for seven years he became part time assistant pastor of a church in Luton, Bedfordshire. For the next 31 years he pastored 2 churches in the South East of London. Since retiring from those posts, he continues with an itinerant preaching ministry and works in prison as a chaplain one day per week.

Kenneth Brownell
Until his retirement in 2021 Kenneth Brownell was the Senior Minister for over 30 years at East London Tabernacle. Originally from the United States, Ken came to the United Kingdom to study at St. Andrews University in Scotland. He is married to Alison, a retired hospital physician, and they have two adult children and four grandchildren. In addition to his pastoral ministry Ken teaches church history at the London Seminary and is involved in the work of Pastoral Training International. In the latter capacity he has led annual preaching conferences and training seminars on expository preaching in Malaysia, Burma (Myanmar) and most recently Madagascar. Ken also leads walking tours of the City of London, Victoria and Albert Museum and National Gallery under the auspices of Christian Heritage London.

Peter Cunliffe

Peter had a 35 year career as a Chartered Surveyor and Auctioneer primarily at a Global Property Consultancy. He came to faith at Dundonald Church in Wimbledon over 27 years ago. He studied a foundation year at Cornhill Bible College in 2021 and has been a Chaplaincy Volunteer at HMP Brixton since 2015. He feels immensely privileged to pastor prison inmates and share the good news of the Gospel.
