Resettlement

At Christian Prison Resourcing we are committed to supporting former detainees as they transition from custody to community.

The challenge: reoffending in the UK

According to the UK Ministry of Justice, the current proven reoffending rate in England and Wales is approximately 26% within one year of release. For certain groups, such as short-term prisoners, that figure can rise significantly higher. These statistics reflect a deeply entrenched issue: many former detainees leave prison only to return within months.

This “revolving door” of incarceration is not only costly to society—it also reflects a failure to support individuals in making lasting change.

Breaking the cycle of reoffending

At Christian Prison Resourcing (CPR), we believe that no one is beyond transformation—and that real change happens in the context of community church discipleship. That’s why we are committed to supporting former detainees as they transition from custody to community.

By working in partnership with:

  • Government agencies
  • Local churches
  • Community resettlement groups

We strive to provide both practical support and spiritual grounding to those leaving prison.

A dedicated role: supporting resettlement

Since 2022,  CPR has employed a dedicated Resettlement Worker, Adam Feak, to lead our post-release resettlement strategy. Adam works closely with churches, chaplains, probation services, and housing networks to ensure that former prisoners are:

  • Connected with healthy gospel-preaching churches
  • Supported through mentoring and discipleship
  • Encouraged to contribute positively to community life
  • Provided with practical assistance when needed (housing referrals, job training, etc.)

Adam’s work is an essential part of CPR’s mission to ensure the gospel doesn’t stop at the prison gate..
